This Isn't What I Ordered. It's Better.

Well, this isn't exactly what I ordered, but it's better than I imagined!

My favorite thing to do at the beginning of each week is set my intention and manifest something.

I like to give my universe some time for "larger" request, although the universe doesn't know if something is "big" or "small". That's something WE tell the universe.

For example, saying, "I want a million dollars." feels big to me. Although that is something I'm working on, because I'm telling the universe that's too big for me, so I'm not ready for it right now.

BUT, telling the universe something small like "I would like a surprise gift" is a lot more feasible in my mind.

Example?

I was in Chicago doing a pop-up, and I told my universe, "I would love it if one of my clients brought me a coffee or treat today." (When I do my Chicago pop-ups, I get tired very quickly because of the amount of energy I'm exuding and feeling from my clients who I love dearly.)

That day, because it was such a small and simple request, one of my besties came and brought me a plethora of treats from her bakery, I had another client bring me a bunch of little treats and a goody-bag, and then I had two clients (husband and wife) come and say, "Hey do you want this coffee? The barista made us the wrong one and said we could take the one they screwed up on, so we brought it for you in case you want it."

Um, HELLOOOOO universe! Thank you for listening to my order.

But Aly, what's the secret? How come YOU can do it, but I CAN'T.

Well, your wish is my command.

You just told the universe, "This happens to other people, not me.", and guess what?

You're right!

Why? Because the universe listens to you, and that's what you told it.

"Where attention goes, energy flows" - James Redfield

Like I've stated before, the universe doesn't know whether you want or don't want something, it just attracts what you're focusing your attention on.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming:

At the beginning of the week, I told my universe, "Universe, I want to make X amount of money, and I would like one positive review.

The end.

That's what I asked for.

No specifics.

Then I went about my week.

In my head, I was asking for X amount of dollars because when looking at my work schedule, there was no way I was making that. I like to be surprised with what the universe brings me. I don't want to know it's already there - how is that fun?

When referring to the positive review, I was actually picturing a positive review on my Aly the Esty business page.

To be clear, I'm not big on reviews. I have it in my head that people like to post when they're pissed about something, or when they're asked to.

I should probably get that out of my universe.

I want someone to post a positive review for me because they felt good in my presence, and it felt good to them to do it.

I should put that in my universe.

Cut to:

It's Friday afternoon, I'm applying a lash fill on one of my clients, daydreaming, of course because these appointments are typically quiet.

Then it hits me!

I exceeded my X amount of dollars, but I didn't make it just by the number of clients I worked on.

I had people purchase products, I opened late Christmas and early birthday cards (where my Aquarians at?!) with money in them, and that was ON TOP of the clients I worked on (some were prebooked from weeks prior, and some were last-minute bookings, but thank you universe for bringing them to me!).

But I didn't get my positive review. I was like, "Rats. That's okay. I'm going to have faith that the right positive review is on its way."

Wow, Aly. So close-minded at times.

Did I mention I started a blog this week?

The amount of positive feedback I've received from people... I'm in disbelief.

I've received messages from coworkers, close girlfriends, family members, clients, and people I haven't heard from since high school (miss you)!

Those are the positive reviews I requested.

Although in my head I pictured my esthetic business getting the review, the universe said, "I've got something better."

The universe knows that I already have the confidence in my business to know I love my clients, they love me, and I'm good at my job. I don't need that reassurance.

Instead, the universe did me one better and showed me I took the right step by starting this blog journey and wanted to give me peace of mind and say "GOOD JOB, GIRL! KEEP GOING!"

So, thank you, universe, for once again, bringing me something that was even better than what I asked for.

PUT IT IN YOUR UNIVERSE:

  1. Today, request something tangible from the universe that you would like to see within the next week.

  2. Make it clear by saying it out loud, praying for it, writing it down - whatever feels good.

  3. Then, be open to the universe bringing you something even better than you thought - you're not supposed to try to figure out what it could be.

  4. Once you've done those things, let it go into the universe and don't obsess over it or think about it again. The universe knows how to bring you exactly what you need.
